THE COURSE

Situated in the heart of the cheshire countryside, and with over 100 years of history.

Situated in Cheshire less than two miles from the M6, Sandbach Golf Club is highly accessible. The parkland course is noted for its natural surroundings including water hazards and the superb tree lined fairways defining each hole.

The course measures 5,605 yards, par 68 for men and 5,016 yards, par 70 for ladies and is a fair and enjoyable test for any level of golfer and available 52 weeks of the year.

Sandbach Golf Club over a period of many years has consistently attracted many young people into the world of golf. We actively encourage the development and growth of our membership from the juniors through to the seniors.

The club recognises that this is one of the few sports that can be taken up at any stage of life. We encourage both new and experienced golfers and provide a formal introduction to the club and include support from existing members.

Hole By Hole Guide

Belmont & Poplars

Hole Tips

A tough starting hole, the tee shot needs to be placed in to the right half of the fairway which will leave the green open. Be aware of the trees that line the left hand side of the fairway and out of bounds on the right which is very much in play on a windy day.

The second shot needs to be precise and the front edge of the green is always a good place to be with two large greenside bunkers awaiting a slightly pulled or pushed shot and with out of bounds behind the green awaiting anyone who attacks and goes long. A par is always a good score.

The Pit & The Pond

Hole Tips

The tee shot needs to be kept left aware from a watery pit that awaits anything that leaks right, a few bunkers surround the left however the front 3rd of the green is always a good shot and will be rewarded with a par 3.

The House & The Dip

Hole Tips

Some would say a risk and reward tee shot, you look at 2 bunkers in the middle of the fairway and need to decide do you lay up short of them which will leave you a short iron; or choose to drive between them which will leave a chip and putt for a possible birdie 3.

Out of bounds is on the right hand side and a copse of trees on the left make the hole a challenge for the wayward golfer.

The Oak & The Oaks

Hole Tips

A tough hole with trees that hug the fairway all the way up the right, a good drive will see you left with a long to mid iron into the green. Keep the ball away from the large tree on the right hand side, the middle of the green is a good place to be after your 2ndshot.

The green is surrounded by bunkers and will pick up a loose or wild shot which will leave a difficult 3rd shot dependent on where the pin is on the green.

A par 4 is always a good score and the hole does not yield many birdie 3’s in a season.

Elworth Hall & The Long Shot

Hole Tips

Getting a good drive away on this hole is a must and will suit the golfer who is able to hit  a draw. Once the ball has been placed in the right half of the fairway then the challenge of hitting the green with the 2nd shot starts. You could be going in with a wood however a long iron is more likely to a McKenzie green which is guarded by a bunker on the right and out of bounds to the back and the left hand side of the green.

The middle of the green is a great place to be. If the flag is on the back and the ball on the front then expect a 3 putt. A par 4 is a very good score!

The Meadow & Round The Bend

Hole Tips

A dog leg left where finding the fairway is a must. The trees on the left prevent anyone trying to cut the corner. With trees and heavy rough in the main down the right hand side, a bogey 5 is going on the card if the fairway is not found.

The green is slightly raised and you will not be able to see the bottom of the pin, the middle of the green is a good place to be and could reward with a birdie.

The Grange & Addendum

Hole Tips

Aim for the right hand side of the green and you will walk away with a par 3. Miss to the left then a bogey 4 is more likely.

Tall Trees & The Avenue

Hole Tips

Keep the ball in the right half of the fairway. For the big hitters then a drive over the tree is possible however not recommended due to the bunkers which surround the green. With a drive to the right hand side of the fairway you can attack the pin and a birdie 3 is possible.

The Bungalow & Bunkers

Hole Tips

Bunkers are all you can see from the tee. The longer hitters tend to lay up short of them which leaves a mid to short iron to the green where a birdie 3 is possible. A ditch awaits a wayward shot leaked to the right and should your 2nd shot go long then out of bounds awaits at the back of the green.
